Web Developer

Responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining websites and web-based applications written with PHP or Asp.Net.  Work can be for both internal web based software applications and customer/custom projects and web sites. This person will work with other developers but might be the only one working on a project at a time. Takes responsibility for project communication. Must be self-motivated and able to work independently.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implement designs into CMS themes following standards & best practices
  • Program back end of web sites utilizing various tools
  • Code, test, and debug software components and applications
  • Maintain software components and applications
  • Field support calls for website updates, software applications, email questions from clients
  • Other programming and maintenance duties as required
  • Must be motivated and enjoy challenges as well as have good teamwork skills.
  • Have a sense of humor and enjoy working with people and clients as much as code

Job Specifications

  • Familiarity with Content Management Systems – Word Press, Joomla, Drupal, Expression Engine, or others are a plus
  • Good familiarity with software design, development techniques and web standards
  • Knowledge of structured and object-oriented design, coding, and development
  • Knowledgeable in database and internet technologies
  • Understanding of Search Engine Optimization and Methods a Plus

Desired Skills

  • Design and programming in various languages and platforms including
    • PHP or other server-side scripting languages
    • C# or VB.Net
    • JavaScript and frameworks like jQuery
    • CSS, HTML
    • Macromedia Flash or Action Script would be beneficial
  • Tools and techniques of relational databases
    • Microsoft SQL Server and/or mySQL
    • TSQL (Structured Query Language) and Stored Procedures
  • Basic understanding web server administration
    • Understanding of Microsoft IIS and/or Apache
    • Familiarity with AJAX

    Experience

    • 3+ years Experience in web-based application and website/database development situation
    • A College Degree or Technical School certificate would be a plus
    • Experience working in an environment with multiple projects at the same time is a plus
    • Experience with handling customer support and questions

    Compensation

    This is commensurate with experience but targeted in the $48k-$55k range with possible annual bonus. Benefits for full time employees (after contract period) include Health and Dental
